About Good Measure

A life of good measure.

I’m Louise — a mom of five, a longtime clean beauty and wellness educator, a trained Color Analyst, a sourdough baker, a book collector, a treasure hunter, and an enthusiastic participant in what my children would probably call grandma hobbies.

For more than a decade I’ve worked in the cleaner beauty and wellness world. But somewhere along the way, my definition of well got bigger.

I still care about what we put on our skin and in our bodies, and about moving and feeling strong. I also care about the music playing in the kitchen. The book on the nightstand. Dinner around a table. Faith. Creativity. Something made by hand. Wearing a color that makes you come alive.

The things aren’t the treasure.
The life happening around them is.

I’m a maximalist at heart. I don’t dream of owning twelve perfectly neutral objects. I like things.

What I don’t want is more for the sake of more.

  • Collecting, rather than consuming.
  • Finding, instead of constantly buying.
  • Keeping, instead of replacing.
  • Choosing something wonderful once, instead of something almost-right five times.

My faith is an important part of that perspective. Scripture reminds us not to spend our lives storing up treasures on earth, but to store up treasures in heaven. I believe that deeply — and I also believe this life we’ve been given is meant to be lived with gratitude and delight.

So Good Measure is where I share what I’ve learned, and what I’m still learning, about beauty, wellness, color, home, food, books, faith, style and living creatively.

You’ll find things worth buying here. You’ll also find things worth making, reading, learning, finding secondhand, keeping, giving away, passing down — and occasionally deciding you never needed in the first place.

The measure isn’t the price. It’s whether something adds something worthwhile to the life you’re actually living.

Collected. Colorful. Considered.

Things worth knowing, making, buying & keeping.
